Harmonica Almanac – September 28

Blues guitar, mandolin and harmonica player Houston Stackhouse was born on this day in 1910. Stackhouse learned guitar during the 1920’s and picked up the harmonica along the way. During his career he worked with Sonny Boy Williamson II, Little Walter, Robert Nighthawk and many other giants of the Blues.

Comedian Adolph “Harpo” Marx may or may not have actually played the harmonica for the movie, but there’s a scene in the movie “Go West” where he plays. Harpo died on this day in 1964.

That’s it for today. Have fun and practice!
