Harmonica Almanac – September 11

Chicago Blues harmonica pioneer Jazz Gillum was born on this day in 1904. Gillum Learned to play harmonica from an uncle when he was a child. Gillum came to Chicago in 1923 and was soon working with many of Chicago’s biggest names, including Big Bill Broozny and Memphis Slim.

Blues harmonica player John “Juke” Logan played with Ry Cooder, Albert Collins, Leon Russell, John Lee Hooker and many others as well as recording for movies and TV. Logan was born on this day in 1946.
