Folk harmonica player and teacher Jon Gindick was born on this day in 1948. Jon has been playing the harmonica since the late 1960’s and has written a wealth of material on how to play the harmonica.
Rock singer, guitar and harmonica player Chris Wilson joined the band, The Flamin’ Groovies in 1971 and stayed with them until 1983. He’s recorded solo albums since then as well as playing on albums by Crowded House, The Barracudas and others. Wilson was born on this day in 1952.

Multi-instrumentalist Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown died on this day in 2005. Brown played virtually any instrument that he could get his hands on, including the harmonica and played in several styles of music.
Folklorist Sam Hinton began playing the harmonica at the age of five. He also played the guitar and liked to play the harmonica without a neckbrace, simply slipping the harmonica into his mouth and using his tongue to block out the holes. Hinton died on this day in 2009.
