Vaudeville harmonica giant Johnny Puleo was born on this day in 1907. Though he was only 4 feet tall, Puleo had an enormous impact on vaudeville harmonica bands, many of which had their own midgets to copy Puleo’s comedic talents.
Tony “Little Sun” Glover is credited with teaching his boyhood friend, Bob Dylan, how to play the harmonica. Glover played a big role in the folk music scene of the 1960’s and his book, “Blues Harp” is a must-read classic. Glover was born on this day in 1939.

Harmonica band player Eddie Gordon was born on this day in 1941. He began his career playing with the Harmonica Rascals at the age of nine, the went on to play with Johnny Puleo’s band as well as the Stereomonics.
