Harmonica Almanac – October 30

Pop / Classical harmonica soloist Jerry Adler was born on this day in 1918. Jerry was the younger brother of Larry Adler and a great player in his own right, playing with orchestras, in recital and in the movies as well.

Country harmonica great Buddy Greene began playing when he was 21 and played for Jerry Reed until 1987. Since the he’s established himself as one of the top players of Country Gospel music. Buddy was born on this day in 1953.

Blues / Rock harmonica player Norton Buffalo died on this day in 2009. Norton was best known as a studio harmonica player, working with Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, The Doobie Brothers and many other top names as well as performing with guitarist Roy Rogers.
