Blues harmonica player Billy Branch was born on this day in 1951. Branch learned how to play the harmonica while growing up in Los Angeles. When he moved to Chicago to attend college he became an active part of the city’s thriving Blues scene.

Blues guitar and harmonica player Keb Mo is a sensational proponent of classic Mississippi Delta Blues. He sometimes plays the harmonica on a neckbrace. Keb Mo was born on this day in 1952.

Folk music icon Woodie Guthrie died on this day in 1967. Guthrie would occasionally play the harmonica on a neckbrace and also worked with Sonny Terry.
