Harmonica Almanac – October 25

Bass harmonica player Danny Wilson was born on this day in 1935. Danny began playing the harmonica when he was 35 and during his career he played with the Harmonicats, The New World Harmonica Trio and The Dave McKelvey Trio.

Chord harmonica legend Al Fiore first Teamed up with Jetty Murad and Pete Pedersen in 1937 to form The Harmonica Madcaps. The group evolved into The Harmonicats and in 1947 they scored their biggest hit with “Peg O’ My Heart”. Fiore died on this day in 1996.

Rock singer, bass and harmonica player Jack Bruce died on this day in 2014. Bruce began his career as part of Cyril Davies Band, where he probably learned to play harmonica. He later was a part of the power trio Cream, where he sometimes played harmonica.
