Country harmonica player Mickey Raphael was born on this day in 1952. Mickey has not only been playing behind Willie Nelson since 1973, but has also guest starred as a session player behind dozens of other musical greats.
Country Music pioneer Dave McCarn spent most of his career playing in the Piedmont area of North Carolina. He played guitar and harmonica and specialized in playing protest songs. McCarn died on this day in 1964.
Swedish Jazz harmonica player Filip Jers was born on this day in 1986. Filip came to the world’s attention in 2005 when he won the World Harmonica Championship at the age of eighteen. He has since played concerts all over the world, worked as a studio musician and recorded several CD’s of his own.
