Harmonica Almanac – November 4

Jugband Blues guitar and harmonica player Willie Borum was born on this day in 1911. Borum learned how to play the harmonica from Noah Lewis and during his career played with The Memphis Jug Band, Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Will Shade and a host of other Blues greats.

Blues / Rock singer and harmonica player Delbert McClinton has been around since the 1950’s, playing behind such Blues greats as Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Lightnin’ Hopkins and others. In 1962 he scored a major hit backing Bruce Chanel on the song “Hey Baby”. McClinton was born on this day in 1940.

That’s it for today. Have fun and practice!
