Harmonica Almanac – November 3
Country singer, guitar and harmonica player Cal Maddox was born on this day in 1915. Maddox played in his family’s group, The Maddox Brothers and Rose, which was popular during the 1940’s and 50’s.
Actor Charles Bronson may or may not have really played the harmonica, but he certainly made it look totally cool in the movie “Once Upon a Time in the West”. Bronson was born on this day in 1921.
Blues harmonica player William Clarke died on this day in 1996. Clarke began playing harmonica when he was 16 and even got some lessons from George “Harmonica” Smith. He recorded several outstanding albums of his own as well as appearing on recordings by Smokey Wilson, Shakey Jake Harris and others.
