Blind Willie McTell

Blues guitar and harmonica player Blind Willie McTell was born on this day in 1901. McTell began playing music on the accordion and harmonica and later picked up guitar. He also worked with harmonica player Buddy moss.

Country-rock singer and harmonica player Steve Cash learned to play the harmonica from his mother. In addition to fronting The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Cash has played on albums by Emmylou Harris, Brewer & Shipley and others. Cash was born on this day in 1946.

Rev. Gary Davis

Blues singer, guitar and harmonica player Rev. Gary Davis died on this day in 1972. Davis had been working in music since 1910 and remained active in music well into the 1960’s. He wrote some of the Blues best-known songs, including “Candyman”, “Samson and Delilah” and “Death don’t have no mercy”.
