Harmonica Almanac – May 30

I have no deaths or births to report for this date.

Just a brief update on my Work at Jimmy’s Music in Woodstock, IL. I have been teaching harmonica there since January of this year and currently have 4 students of various levels, from beginner to professional and they have all made me quite proud of the progress they’ve made. I’m especially proud of my beginner who started in mid-January who could hardly play a single note. This last week he was working on playing Blues Traveler licks.

Each student is started with a free “Getting to know you” lesson where I get the chance to find out what they hope to accomplish and I get to hear where they’re at. Each one gets individually tailored lessons and they all have shown tremendous progress. It’s very satisfying to see how much they’ve learned in such a short time.

Jimmy’s has also become an official Hohner dealership and I’m happy to say that they offer outstanding prices. What we don’t have in stock, we can order. We can also get out hands on Seydels and we’re working on getting Lee Oskars and Suzukis. It’s a great store with a focus on teaching.

That’s it for today. Have fun and practice!
