Harmonica Almanac – March 31

Folk/Country/Rock singer-songwriter John D. Loudermilk was born on this day in 1934. Loudermilk began his professional career when he was thirteen, playing guitar and harmonica and is best known for the hit songs that he wrote for others.

Studio guitar and harmonica player Hugh McCracken began working in the 1970’s and managed to record with Mose Allison, Jimmy Buffett, Neil Diamond, Dr. John and a host of other artists. McCracken was born on this day in 1942.

U.S. Vice-President Al Gore was almost our 8th harmonica playing president. He did manage to win a Nobel Peace Prize. Gore was born on this day in 1948.
