Harmonica Almanac – March 3

Blues singer and harmonica player Herman “Little Junior” Parker was born on this day in 1927. He learned how to play the harmonica from Sonny Boy Williamson II and also played with Howlin’ Wolf. His song “Mystery Train” became a huge hit for Elvis Presley.

Harmonica ace Jimmy Gordon began playing the harmonica at the age of 4 and was playing professionally by the time he was 13. During his career he’s worked with J.J. Cale, Bonnie Raitt and many others. Jimmy was born on this day in 1960.

That’s it for today. Have fun and practice!
