Folk banjo and harmonica player Mel Lyman was born on this day in 1938. Lyman was a part of the Cambridge, Massachusetts folk music scene in the 1960’s and played with the Jim Kweskin Jug Band.
Harmonica master Lee Oskar was an integral part of the group, War’s sound and even started his own harmonica company that helped to revolutionize harmonicas. He’s also had an impressive solo career and currently plays in the Lowrider Band, made up of several War alumnis. Oskar was born on this day in 1948.
