Iverson Minter, also known as Louisiana Red. Was born on this day in 1936. Minter took up the harmonica as a youngster after both of his parents died and became a fixture in the Chicago Blues scene in the 1950’s. Other than serving a stint in the U.S. Army, he remained active until his death in 2012.
Canadian Country singer-songwriter, guitar and harmonica player George Fox began playing music when he was 21 and has been recording since 1988. Fox was born on this day in 1960.
Blues harmonica player Lee McBee was born on this day in 1951. McBee played harmonica with the group, Mike Morgan and the Crawl from the late 1980’s until his death in 2014. He also played with Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Winters and several other blues greats.
Cowboy star Ken Maynard sang, played guitar and sometimes the harmonica while he battling bad guys in the movies. Maynard died on this day in 1973.
