
James Harman
Blues harmonica player James Harman was born on this day in 1946. Harman learned to play the harmonica from his father. Poor health held him back from professional music for a few years, but he came back in the early 1980’s and has been a major for in Blues harmonica since then.
Harmonica band player Phil Caltabellotta was born on this day in 1947. He’s been playing the harmonica since he was seven years old and plays diatonic, chromatic and chord harmonicas. He’s a regular at SPAH as well as working with Bass harmonica maven, George Miklas.

Joe Filisko
Harmonica wizard Joe Filisko is a man who lives and breathes harmonicas. He’s a historian, master technician, instructor and an immense player. To top that off, he’s incredibly generous with his time and knowledge. Joe was born on this day in 1967.
By the way, this was my mother’s birthday. She never played the harmonica, as far as I know, but it was her and my dad who took me to see and meet Larry Adler and every birthday after that she gave me a chromatic harmonica.
