Chord harmonica player Bob Bauer was born on this day in 1937. Bob began playing in harmonica trios in the late 50’s and took over as the main chord harmonica player for the Harmonicats after Al Fiore retired in 1982.
One-man Blues band, Blind Joe Hill was born on this day in 1937. He would play drums, guitar and harmonica at the same time.
Chicago Blues harmonica player Mervyn “Harmonica” Hinds was born on this day in 1945. He’s been a regular on the Chicago scene working with Koko Taylor, John Primer and others as well as performing as a solo artist.
Bluesman Charlie Sayles was born on this day in 1948. Sayles began playing the harmonica after serving in the Viet Nam war. He was discovered while working as street musician and has recorded several albums.
Benjamin Darvill played the mandolin, guitar and sometimes the harmonica for the band, “the Crash Test Dummies”. He was born on this day in 1967.
