“Whispering” Moses Smith

Blues singer and harmonica player “Whispering” Moses Smith was born on this day in 1932.  He began playing the harmonica at the age of 14 and worked with Lightnin’ Hopkins for a while.  He began recording in 1963 and worked steadily until his death in 1984.

Little Mack Simmons

Little Mack Simmons

Chicago blues harmonica player Little Mack Simmons was born on this day in 1934.  He learned to play the harmonica while growing up in rural Arkansas.  During his career he worked with Robert Nighthawk and remained active in music until the late 1990’s.

Bob Bauer

Bob Bauer

Bob Bauer passed away on this day in 2001.  Bob played chord harmonica with the band, The Harmonikings in the late 1950’s and eventually took over as the chord harmonica player in the Harmonicats in 1982 after Al Fiore retired.
