Classical composer Alexander Tcherepnin was born on this day in 1899. Tcherepnin wrote “Concerto for Harmonica and Orchestra” for John Sebastian in 1953.
Country singer-songwriter and harmonica player Skeets Yaney passed away on this day in 1978. Yaney began his career at the age of six by winning a talent contest as “Best Entertainer in Southern Indiana”. He worked until shortly before his death.
Blues piano and harmonica player Whistlin’ Alex Moore died on this day in 1989. He began playing the harmonica at the age of sixteen and worked primarily around the Dallas area for most of his career. He made his first recordings in 1929 and worked well into the 1970’s.
