Harmonica Almanac – January 11

Louisiana Blues guitar and harmonica player Slim Harpo was born on this day in 1924. Slim created some of the great classics of the Blues, including “I’m a King Bee”, “Scratch My Back” and “Rainin’ in my Heart.

Country singer-songwriter Mac Odell died on this day in 2003. Mac began working professionally, playing the guitar and harmonica in the early 1930’s and was a regular on Country radio programs and remained fairly active until shortly before his death.

Composer William Russo Died on this day in 2003. He wrote “Three Pieces for Blues Band and Orchestra” for the Siegel-Schwall Band.
