Bluesman Sam Myers was born on this day in 1936. He began playing the harmonica at the age of seven and was playing professionally by the mid-1950’s. During his career he worked with Elmore James, Lightnin’ Hopkins as well as fronting Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets.
Jazz harmonica player William Galison began playing the harmonica at the age of two. He studied music at the Berklee School of Music as well as working with Charlie Leighton. He has made a multitude of recordings with others as well as recording several albums of his own. Galison was born on this day in 1958.
R&B singer guitar and harmonica player Duffy Power died on this day in 2014. During his career he worked with Jack Bruce, Alexis Korner, John McLaughlin and others.
