Harmonica Almanac – February 13
Classical composer George Kleinsinger was born on this day in 1914. Kleinsinger wrote “Street Corner Concerto” in 1943 for John Sebastian.
While growing up in Mississippi John Lee Henley taught himself how to play the harmonica. He came to Chicago in 1943, took harmonica lessons from John Lee “Sonny Boy Williamson and ended up working with Muddy Waters, Honeyboy Edwards and a host of other Blues Giants. Henley was born on this day in 1919.
Jazz and studio session harmonica player Randy Singer was born on this day in 1957. Singer has played with Julio Inglesias, Blondie, Al DiMeola, Larry Coryell and many other superstars.
