Bluesman JD Short was born on this day in 1902. Short played several instruments, including the harmonica. He began playing music professionally when he was seventeen years old. After World War Two he worked primarily as a one-man band, playing the harmonica on a neckbrace.
Jay Farrar helped to found the bands Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt. In addition to being a leading singer-songwriter, he plays guitar, mandolin and harmonica. Farrar was born on this day in 1967.
