Harmonica Almanac – December 19

Blues / Rock harmonica player Stanley Behrens was born on this day in 1946. Behrens has been performing and recording on the harmonica since the 1970’s. He is currently filling in the harmonica position in the band, WAR.

Country / Rock drummer and harmonica player Michael Clarke played with The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers and Firefall. Though he usually played drums, he did add some harmonica to their recordings. Clarke died on this day in 1993.

Chicago Blues guitar legend Jimmy Rogers died on this day in 1997. Like many Blues musicians, Rogers began by playing the harmonica, but usually left the harmonica playing to others like Sonny Boy Williamson II, Little Walter, Big Walter, Howlin Wolf and others.

That’s it for today. Have fun and practice!
