Matthias Hohner was born on this day in 1833. Hohner, originally a clockmaker, started his harmonica company in his kitchen. By the turn of the 20th century, his company had grown into the largest harmonica company in the world.

Country singer-songwriter, guitar and harmonica player John Anderson was born on this day in 1954. Anderson started playing music when he was five and began playing professionally when he was fifteen.
Blues singer, guitar and harmonica player Homesick James died on this day in 2006. James started playing music when he was ten years old. During his career he managed to work with John Lee “Sonny Boy” Williamson, Snooky Pryor and others as well as recording several albums of his own.
