Blues harmonica player Nelson Adelard was born on this day in 1955. Adelard was already playing professionally by the time he was in his teens and has shared the stage with Muddy Waters, James Cotton and other Blues greats. He has released several albums of his music.

Blues singer, guitar and harmonica player Jimmy Reed played using a neckbrace and developed a distinctive technique of playing high-end blow bends that is still being copied by harmonica players to this day. Reed died on this day in 1976.

Blues singer, guitar and harmonica player David “Honeyboy” Edwards died on this day in 2011. Edwards began playing music at the age of fourteen and by the time he was seventeen he was working with some of the biggest names in Blues, including Big Joe Williams, Charlie Patton, Walter Horton, Robert Johnson and others.
