Harmonica Almanac – August 12

Blues guitarist Luther Allison died on this day in 1997. Allison was one of the top guitar players in the Chicago Blues scene, but like most Blues guitarists, he could also play the harmonica.

Les Paul was a legendary guitarist, but he also played the harmonica, especially in his early days as a country musician in Chicago known as “Rhubarb Red”. One of his first inventions was a harmonica neckbrace that could change keys. Paul died on this day in 2009.

That’s it for today. Have fun and practice!
