Blues harmonica player Geneva Red was born on this day in 1969. She began playing the harmonica after attending a Chicago Blues Festival in the 1980’s. She has since recorded several albums.

Herb Shriner

Herb Shriner

Comedian Herb Shriner loved to play the harmonica and got his start playing on the radio in the 1930’s. Shriner also had a television series where he regularly featured harmonica players as guests. Shriner died on this day in 1970.

Robert Farnon

Robert Farnon

Classical composer Robert Farnon died on this day in 2005. Farnon wrote “Prelude and Dance for Harmonica and Orchestra” and “Concerto for Harmonica and Orchestra” for Tommy Reilly.
